Trotro

Trotro is a Ghanaian slang for public transport. They are usually inexpensive, minibus used for short distance travel. it’s name evolved from the Ga word “TRO”-three pence (a currency used in the days of Gold Coast).

For strange reasons, the name tro tro is still used though the penny is no longer used.

When you want to hear authentic gossip, stories, spewing of ignorance, jokes and odd behaviors, join a trotro anywhere in Ghana. It’s a new and refreshing experience. You’ll get to appreciate each individual’s uniqueness. lol.
