Nana Akuffo-Addo, President of Ghana has commended organizers of Social Media Week Accra (SMWiAccra), Echohouse and Vodafone Ghana for igniting the digital agenda in Ghana.
The week-long event is organised by Echo House Ghana, the number one youth marketing agency in Ghana. It was powered by telecommunication giant, Vodafone Ghana.
Nana Akuffo-Addo put up two tweets on his personal twitter handle commending the event organisers-Echo House and key sponsors.
“I commend the organisers of #SMWiAccra for hosting such a successful international event in Accra and boosting the city’s tourism”.
“Social media is obviously an intergral part of our lives. And we in government must use it to bring development to our people. #SMWiAccra”
The official twitter handle of the Flagstaff House also tweeted to endorse Social Media Week.
As part of the week, Vodafone Ghana partnered Facebook and Google to register 1,000 small scale businesses online. This is to empower businesses to take advantage of social media in becoming successful entities.
The online initiative assembled 200 online agents this week to embark on a market storm. Agents were to sign up companies in Makola, Circle, Madina and other markets unto Facebook and Google directories.
Day 5 sessions include “Making money off content people love” at 12 and “Instagram Runway” at 5 pm. The week will climax with “Accra is Connected Concert”.
