…Relationship Dos and Donts

We all enjoy being with the right one in a relationship where we can easily express our feelings without hesitation. But, let’s say you spend a blissful time getting to know a man and then you hit your first disagreement. Or he suddenly pulls away after having been affectionate with you.  Or maybe he forgets to call on more than one occasion. If this sounds familiar then it’s time to clear the air with these few relationship dos and donts:

How do you handle whatever it is that your man may have done wrong without losing the fun? How do you handle the carefree feeling you both have been enjoying since you met?

Do you call him out for being inconsiderate or do you hold everything back so you don’t rock the boat?

Of course, it’s neither here nor there. You shouldn’t pretend everything is Okay. Why? Because that way he never gets to see what makes you tick. He never gets to see or experience what makes you, YOU.

The longer you go without voicing out your feelings, the more you start to resent your man. And then you start unconsciously becoming “cold” to him. In a way that he may sense, which in turn pushes him away.

If a man does something that doesn’t make you feel good and he does it consistently, focus on how you feel about it rather than what he is doing. If he forgot to call for instance, say “I feel disappointed that we don’t talk as often as we used to“. Don’t play the blame game. Sometimes, we must try to make things work out for good.

When you ask for instance, “Is there something I should know? Instantly, you are shifting the conversation from making him look like the bad guy to finding out if there’s something wrong. When you express your feelings about the situation and give him a chance to make it better, you’re setting both of you up for an open dialogue. This will either tell you that this man has some non-negotiables you can’t live with or whether he will work with you to develop an even closer bond.

Conclusion

  • Depth is what you want in a relationship and you can’t get depth by keeping your mouth shut when your feelings are running high.
  • Knowing what to say and practising when and how to say it, will change your love life.
